Meet Our Staff 
Robert Arnio earned his doctorate from the University of Iowa in 1979. For the past twenty years he has been in private practice in the Rapid City area.

Throughout his career Dr. Arnio has earned multiple awards for outstanding service and leadership from the South Dakota and the American Psychological Associations, including the Karl F. Heiser Award for advocacy in 1995. In 1997, he was awarded Outstanding Health Care Professional by the Governor's Advisory Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities.

Dr. Arnio has been teaching at South Dakota State University, West River Graduate Center since 1981. He is currently teaching CHRD 723, Counseling the Family. His research interests include family therapy and childhood disorders. In his spare time Bob enjoys skiing, woodworking, and British cars.

Vickie Nordgaard graduated from the University of Wyoming with a B.A. in Elementary Education and a minor in Music.  She retired from Campbell County School District in Gillette, Wyoming after 31 years of teaching.  Her professional memberships included Alpha Delta Kappa and Delta Kappa Gamma.  Vickie served on the Language Arts and Staff Development Committees and was supervising teacher to numerous student teachers.  She also received Campbell County Teacher of the Year recognition.

Vickie has had the rewarding opportunity to work with students at Learning Solutions since 2004.   Teaching students one-on-one, utilizing state-of-the-art programs has proven to provide a strong foundation as students work to reach their potential.  The dedicated staff is committed to high expectations and quality work in a caring environment.  The continuing education that trainers receive ensures our students are being taught effectively, resulting in a positive impact in their lives. 

Carol Harwood has been a trainer at Learning Solutions since 2004. She graduated from Stephens College in Columbia, MO with a BFA in Fashion Design. More recently, Carol studied Engineering and Math at SDSM & T. In her free time, Carol enjoys spending time with her  2 children, sewing, skiing and reading.

Lisa Owen is currently teaching Chemistry, Physics and Biology at Rapid City's Stevens High School.  She has been at Stevens for 6 years and spent a year at North Middle School before that, bringing her total years of teaching to 17 years.  Lisa received her Bachelors degree from Boise State University in 1986. She was awarded her Masters Degree in Counseling from SDSU in 2001.  Lisa taught in Davis, California from 1987 until 1991 and received the districts award for school wide excellence in 1991.  She was named Science Teacher of the Year for the Northwest in 1994 while teaching in Idaho.  Lisa also began coaching the Knowledge Bowl team at Stevens this year.

She really enjoys the one-on-one time that she gets to spend with her students at Learning Solutions.  It is a thrill for her to see people succeed in an arena where they had experienced difficulty in the past.  The whole atmosphere at Learning Solutions is full of the joy of learning. Everyone on the staff loves learning and is ready to pass that love on to students. Sometimes Lisa feels like she is the Super Teacher, able to leap over learning disabilities in a single bound, able to stop quickly falling grades.
